15 Feb Monday Makeover: 19th Century Victorian Fretwork
Do you have vision? Can you look at something, not for what it IS, but for what it COULD be? Potential is everywhere, you just need the vision. (And, for those moments you can’t find it for the life of you, there’s always Pinterest!)
Everyone loves a good makeover, and that’s the subject of today’s post.
I found this GORGEOUS Victorian fretwork at Renningers Antique Extravaganza in the fall. I flipped for it and wanted it for our storefront, Finds and Fixin’s. We hung it up in our main showroom and ooo-ed and ahhh-ed over it daily.
Then, as these things go, the piece sold. We are in retail, after all! My lovely customer wanted the fretwork painted, and I was happy to oblige. [Disclaimer: Yes, the piece is old. Yes, I know some people would consider it a travesty to paint this pristine 19th century fretwork. Alas, once the customer buys it, she can do what she likes with it – including hiring us to create the authentic worn look she was hoping for.]
